Academic Enrichment Programs

Computer Literacy - In 2003, Prince Complex was designated as an I-Community by the Fifth Ward Community Redevelopment Corporation. This designation enables Prince Complex to establish a computer lab and to become a Technology Access Point (TAP) within the community. The computer technology center uses T-1 high speed Internet connectivity. The computer lab is also used in the afternoon for afterschool academic enrichment.

After School Academic Enrichment Program - The After School Academic Enrichment Program will allow children from the surrounding Fifth Ward area the opportunity to learn, play and grow in a safe environment. As part of the Prince Complex After School Academic Enrichment Program, Prince Complex offers homework assistance and study enhancement skills for students (grades 1 through 12) desiring to increase learning and advance in their coursework. For a detailed description of the components for the Afterschool Program read the program page.

Reading Incentive Program - This program is aimed at elementary to high school students to encourage and improve their reading skills. Our program makes reading fun and interactive, encouraging students to read for leisure while improving their computer skills. Students will read a book and then log onto a special website designed to test their reading knowledge and comprehension. Participants will earn points for all of their correct answers which will accumulate to later be redeemed for great prizes. Reading Incentive Home Page here! »

Summer Enrichment Camp - Our summer camp is designed for children ages 6 - 16 to have a fun and enriching experience during the summer months (June - August). We expose the children to new experiences by taking them on field trips throughout the summer months. The children visit places like the Houston Zoo, Mrs. Bairds Bakery, Old McDonald's Farm, The Ensemble Theatre and so much more. Children also participate in stimulating activities meant to educate and inspire such as writing camps, a theatre arts program and recreational activities. For the upcoming 2008 Summer Enrichment Camp applications will be available in April. You will be able to download an application fill it out and email it or fax it back to our office. Space is limited so submit your applications early. See photos from our previous summer camp.
