What is the Reading Incentive Program?
The Reading Incentive Program is designed to encourage our youth to explore the wonderful world inside of the pages of many of our most beloved books. By reading they will be exposed to wonderful and rich themes. Simply by reading they will have the opportunity to win many wonderful prizes.
To earn these prizes participants will collect points for every book they read. When they have collected the necessary points they will earn any of the listed prizes which match the number of points earned. The Reading Incentive Program will run for the entire school year from September 2007 – May 2008. The grand prize will be distributed at the end of the school year, but all other prizes can be redeemed at the time they are earned.

For example: Students will have to read at least one book during the school year to win a shower radio. It gets progressively more challenging as the gifts get better. An easier way to look at it, if a student reads just 2 books per semester they will get a great Rockets t-shirt. If they read the books before the end of the year they will claim their prizes much sooner. Students will be required to prove they have read the book by answering some questions on the book. Our goal is to ensure that students understood the material and have some insight about its contents.
Provided below is a table which shows how many books must be read to earn the listed prizes. Students please notice that doing extra credit gets you to your goal much sooner.
Tip: Identify a prize you want. Put it somewhere you can see it each day to inspire you to reach your reading goals.
